What does it take to become a driver for DriveHER

You:

You must be 20 years of age or older, with a valid G license, a clean driving record and no criminal history. You’ll also need to pass a security screening and provide proof of insurance.

Your Car:

You will need a four-passenger vehicle that is registered in your name, less than 7 years old and in good condition. Every car will undergo a rigorous safety check before hitting the road with DriveHER.

How much money will I make as a driver?

Your payout as a driver is dependent on how often you drive. However, you receive 80% of every fare you collect after the $0.30 city fee has been deducted.

Do we cater to transgender women and gender non conforming folks?

We are still working on how to make this service accessible to people who do not conform to a particular gender. However, transgender women are welcome to use the service.

What happens when a female passenger is with a male?

If the passenger’s male companion is travelling in the same direction but to a different destination, it is up to you (the driver) to decide to take them or refer them to another service (e.g. uber/taxi). However, you can only take these passengers if the male passenger is getting out before the end of the ride. For your safety, the female passenger must be the last to exit the car.

Do we apply surge pricing?

We never apply surge pricing. Instead, during peak times, we apply a flat rate to keep fares affordable for our riders and worthwhile for our drivers.

When do I get paid ?

Payments will be processed bi-weekly on Fridays.

Are DriveHER Drivers required to pay tax?

Yes! As an independent contractor, you are required to pay your own taxes to Canada Revenue Agency** (DriveHER will organize tax clinics and workshops for our drivers to help you cover your bases).

What happens if I get a ticket while driving for DriveHER?

Drivers are required to drive responsibly at all times, with or without a passenger. In the case that a ticket is issued, DriveHER will conduct an internal investigation. DriveHER only covers tickets if there are no infraction on the driver’s part.

What if I am driving for another ride-sharing company?

That’s perfectly okay. In fact, we appreciate the extra experience! As an independent contractor, we respect your freedom and hold you to no obligation to drive exclusively with DriveHER.

What kind of insurance do I need to drive with DriveHER

You must have your own commercial insurance with up to $2 million coverage. We encourage all drivers to notify their personal insurance companies prior to becoming a DriveHER driver.

 

RIDER FAQ

How do I ride with DriveHER?

You must identify as a woman to ride with DriveHER. Once you launch the app, you will receive a confirmation code to complete your profile. Registering as a rider is easy! Once you have entered a few key details and a credit card number, you are ready to hail your first DriveHER ride.  

How am I charged for my ride?

You will be charged a base fare plus a calculation of time and distance driven. DriveHER’s fares are competitive with other ride-sharing and private transportation services and we are committed to keeping it that way

Does DriveHER apply surge pricing?

Never. During our peak times, we have a flat rate fare that helps get more drivers on the road to get you home safely.

Can I tip my driver?

It is completely up to you. Our payment system is not designed to allow tips for drivers through our app, however, if you received exceptional service, feel free to tip your driver directly.

When will DriveHER come to my city?

We are launching first in the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding areas with hopes of expanding to other cities. *Tell us why your city needs DriveHER! Share your stories of uncomfortable or dangerous ride-sharing experiences.

How will i recognize my Driver?

All DriveHER  Drivers will have a DriveHER sticker on the front passenger window  of their car.  Once you have been paired with a driver you will see a picture of your driver and her car details.

What happens if a man requests a ride?

To keep our promise of creating a safe space for women ; we will refer the man to another service (e.g .uber/taxi)

Does DriveHER support charitable causes?

DriveHER is committed to improving the communities we work in by giving back to local women-focused charities and organizations as you travel.
